Who we are

Built by players, not marketers

StormQuest Kingdom started in 2016 as a group chat between five friends from the CBD who were tired of scored-out-of-ten reviews that read like ad copy. We publish three to five long-form pieces a week, from indie roguelikes to sixty-hour RPGs.

Every review runs on hardware we bought ourselves. No early-access embargo trades, no paid placements. If a game wastes your weekend, we say so — and we tell you which one to play instead.

  • Full playthroughs before every verdict
  • Melbourne indie scene coverage weekly
  • Zero sponsored verdicts, ever

Their Hades II review talked me out of a day-one buy and into a backlog gem I'd ignored for months. Saved my weekend and about forty bucks.

The only site that actually finishes RPGs before scoring them. Their 62-hour breakdown of the endgame grind is the reason I trust the verdicts here.

Found three Melbourne indie devs through their Local Loot column and now I'm playtesting for one of them. This blog is basically the city's game scene notice board.

The speedrun explainers make categories I never understood actually make sense. Read one on a Sunday, watched the AGDQ run that night and got every trick.

No 8.5/10s that mean nothing here. When they say skip it, they explain exactly why with save files and timestamps. Refreshing after years of glossy scores.

Their Tuesday newsletter is the one gaming email I actually open. Short, opinionated, and it never tries to sell me a pre-order. Been subscribed since 2019.
